The Uinta Mountains are located just outside Kamas, Utah, and are a pristine mountain area with stunning views and picturesque lakes. This is the perfect location for an amazing backpack getaway where you can reconnect and only worry about what you are carrying on your back! This 3-day adventure will begin on Friday, Aug 16. The group will meet at Hi Mountain in Kamas at 4 pm to carpool to the Pass Lake trailhead, which is 45 minutes away. From there, you will hike 1 mile and set up camp in a beautiful grove of trees. Day 2 you will hike to Kamas Lake and then have the option to visit Cuberant Lake. On Sunday, you will hike to Lofty Lake and then finish around noon. It’s a fairly mellow loop that covers around 10 miles with all the side hike options, including Cuberant Lake. If you were to skip all side hikes the loop is 4.5 miles with 948 elevation gain. This trip will be guided by the Ignite guides April Ollivier and Jenny Hawke. April grew up hiking and rafting all over Utah. She was an adventure guide for nine summers in Spain, Costa Rica and Baja Mexico. April has also climbed Denali, Kilimanjaro and Cotopaxi. She loves to challenge herself in nature. Currently April teaches backpacking and yoga courses at the University of Utah. Jenny is a full-time RN with a masters degree in education. She loves backpacking, rafting, biking, climbing and skiing. She taught for NOLS for many years and currently teaches backpacking at the University of Utah. Trip includes: IGNITE Backpack ONLINE course ($49) Pre-trip planning, 3 days of guided backpacking, permits, and fees. Pre-trip Zoom meeting is mandatory. Meals and gear are the responsibility of participants. If you need help getting gear - don't let this stop you! Reach out, and we can help you! *This adventure requires a moderate level of fitness.
