What should I wear?

Updated: Feb 19, 2021

Have you ever heard the saying "there's no such thing as bad weather, only poor clothing choice?"

We here at ignite movement strongly believe we can dress for any weather condition. Remember to dress in layers so you can take off or add as needed. When you're doing a cardio activity add 10 degrees to the current temp to dress for as you will heat up as you work out (ie if it's 20 degree's out dress for 30 degrees so you don't get too hot once your body warms up). If it's snowing outside add a visor or ball cap over your headband to keep the snow out of your eyes. If it's raining maker sure your outer jacket is water proof. And of course if it's sunny wear sunglasses and sunscreen. We promise once you get out and get going you will be so happy you made the choice to get moving!

Here are some basic temp recommendations-keep in mind everyone regulates heat/cold a little differently so experiment and find what works for you-but this is a great place to start.

  • 60+ degrees: low socks, tank top and shorts,

  • 50–59 degrees: low socks, shorts, short sleeve tech shirt, arm warmers (optional), running cap

  • 40–49 degrees: low socks, shorts, capri's or light weight tights, light long sleeve tech shirt, light gloves (optional), headband to cover ears (optional)

  • 30–39 degrees: high ankle socks, capri's or light tights, warm long sleeve tech shirt, light vest, light gloves, neck buff and headband to cover ears.

  • 20–29 degrees: high ankle socks two technical shirts layered (base layer and warm layer), warm tights, vest, wind stopper gloves, and headband to cover ears.

  • 10–19 degrees: calf length wool socks, warm winter tights, two technical shirts layered, running jacket, wind stopper gloves or mittens, beanie, neck buff.

  • 0–9 degrees: calf length wool socks, warm winter tights and wind stopper pants over the top, two technical shirts layered, light insulated jacket, wind stopper mittens/possible hand warmers, beanie, neck buff.
